Kristen is gorgeous and was such an awesome bride to work with! When we did her trial run almost 6 months prior to the wedding, she had no idea what she wanted. We played around with a few ideas and ended the trial on a good note. On wedding day, she had something COMPLETELY different in mind. She knew exactly what she wanted and we were both on the same page. Kristen wanted something more deconstructed and messy yet classic; something that fit her personality and fit with style of her gorgeous gown. I think we achieved that. She loved it! Kristen looked absolutely beautiful.

Hey Everyone!!! I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve blogged!!! Omg so much has happened…so many great things are happening. Wedding season is about to get up and running! Emails are FLOODING in. If you haven’t booked your date, now is the time. I’m looking forward to working with every single one of the brides that have already booked.

In my 15 year career, I have had the honor of being apart of many awesome events. I do not taking it lightly…and am always excited and humbled by the invitation. SO, when I received an email from Tim Howard Management Inc requesting that I be on the team of stylist assisting world renowned hairstylist Duffy, I was pretty excited. Duffy is an insanely talented hairstylist who’s work has been featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Dior advertisements. He is one of the kindest, most professional hairstylist that I have ever worked with. I learned so much and enjoyed every moment of my time on set with him and his team of amazingly professional New York based stylists. Considering that I was the only local hairstylist on set, I think I represented our city well! I am extremely appreciative of the opportunity to have been surrounded by all of the this amazing talent. Thank you to Express for bringing this spectacular event to our gorgeous city. I cannot end this post without saying how amazing the the models were to work with. These international models were the kindest, sweetest, young men and women to work with. True professionals, easy to work with and amazing at what they do. It was a day I will never forget.

Although, most of the time brides have purchased their dress and hair accessories by the time they hire us, I could not resist sharing this website. I ran across BHLDN the other day while looking for hair accessories. I thought it had a beautiful, eclectic array of everything from bridal gowns to wedding hair accessories including veils.

Love the feathers and I love her hair!

I saw this headpieces and had to share them! They are a nice twist on the birdcage veil. I like the detail of the pearl beading across the front. Check out the rest of the Candy Band Collection click on collection and then bridal. I really like the second one in the bridal collection. The veil is a little shorter in the front and I love the Swarovski Crystal and stone headband!

When is enough…ENOUGH?

As a hairstylist, I am privileged to also be the “behind the chair psychologist” to many of my clients. I must say it is what this job is all about…and one of the things I love the most about it. It’s more than just haircuts and color. Yes…many of you come just to vent…to have some time away from the family to share some of your inner most thoughts with someone who you know cares and won’t say a word to anyone. It’s that client confidentiality clause that’s just a given…no signed agreements…it’s just mutually understood .

We have all had moments in life when we have listened to a friends “situation”, something they have gone through over….and over….and over again. You try to be polite and listen, but really you just want to say, “when is enough, enough?” How many time must you go through this same thing before you realize that this just isn’t working? It seems that they never learn and they just keep wanting to drag you through their mud along with them. At times like this, while you want to be a good friend, there comes a time when you have to stop and say, “ENOUGH, you aren’t draggin me through the mud with you any longer!” Although it requires some tough love, you will feel better in the long run. Your friend may not like you at first…and you may loose them. But your sanity will remain!!

Savannah Wedding Hair- Pinterest

So…if you haven’t heard of Pinterest, you have probably been living under a rock…lol. It is literally the best thing since sliced bread. It allows you to create vision boards of all kinds…weddings…home decor…parties…etc. So, to have a photo to appear on there is a pretty big deal.

Several months back, a friend messaged me on facebook and said did you know that a hair style that you did has been pinned on Pinterest? I was like, no…for real? I was shocked…stunned! That meant some random person saw a photo of my work and pinned it on there, but what photo of what hair style was it…I had no clue…I had to go check it out. So I did!! When I saw the photo…I could hardly believe it. This hair style was a complete MASTERPIECE to say the least.

It was done with no curling iron because we were on location and were the electricity was located versus where we were set up it simply just didn’t make sense to try to use a curling iron…so I didn’t. When I was finished with this “masterpiece”…I was pretty proud of it…I must say…but never thought it would end up going viral alllllll over Pinterest and the internet. Every time I see it get repinned…I must say a little tear comes to my eye. I am thankful…and humbled all at the same time. Thankful to God for the gift He has given me and humbled by the people who appreciate it!

Prudence was such a fun and laid back bride! Her wedding vision and inspiration was definitely classic, but simple. Together Prudence and Tiffony chose to go with a hairstyle that fit her personality. Her and her bridal party were fabulous to work with!

New Beginnings

The end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012 have been busy for me and Ony Salon – so much exciting news to share.
First…we are excited to launch our new website! I am thankful for all of the wonderful team of people who helped me make the website come together so beautifully in such a short amount of time. It was a lot of long hours, but well worth the wait.
Also, I just finished working on the feature film WHEN THE BOUGH BREAKS! This project was an amazing opportunity that allowed me to work with celebrities like Andie MacDowell, Louis Gossett Jr., Milo Ventimiglia, Logan Browning, and Rebecca DeCosta. I look forward to sharing more about this experience along with photos in the coming weeks.
Finally…in between designing the new website and working 14 hours a day for the past two months on film sets, we have also been making some changes around the salon. We have recently remodeled and have welcomed a very talented new stylist to the Ony family. It’s been a busy time! We are so excited about all the changes, and I look forward to sharing the news in the near future.
2012 is definitely the year of new beginnings…more details to come!
